In honor of World Alzheimer’s Day (09/21), this episode of “Historical Walks” featured guest neurophysiologist Giannis Sotiropoulos, in an exploration of the phenomenon of Alzheimer’s disease, which is developing into a pandemic.
Starting with German psychiatrist Alois Alzheimer, the show focused on the evolution of this mind-affecting disease from then until now, highlighting the connection between anxiety and depression with Alzheimer’s, as well as the social implications of dementia. With an emphasis on the continuous global rise in cases and the lack of effective treatment, the program, aimed at the general public, discussed the challenges of caring for patients and their caregivers, the support structures offered for free, and the new research that promises therapeutic solutions through Precision Medicine.
