Captain Giannis Kougioumtzoglou, who by the way has a cold, describes in his own special way how in Dubai they encountered rain and in Saudi Arabia a sandstorm. His ship, the RO RO “Sea Hellinis” is covered with desert sand, as is the port of Jalab where they are waiting to unload. Once they depart for India, his crew will come out with hoses and water to clean the whole ship. Later Captain Kostas Gaitas also spoke and shared with us stories from his own years at sea, such as the one about the steward who got his hand caught in the meat gag in the fridge and had to take it out and sew it. The captain sewed it and he did it very well. He also tells us a story of entering New York harbor in 1965 and encountering a big fog with the few navigation machines of the time broken. And yet they did it…
