The show “Time in Greece” and Nikos Angelidis pay tribute to the revolutionary poet of the people, Pablo Neruda. On this day, 120 years ago… the incomparable Chilean poet and author, with over 30 books to his credit, was born in the city of Paral. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971 at a turbulent time, provoking strong reactions from the conservative and xenophobic political establishment. He stood by his friend Salvador Allende until the day the Chilean leader was assassinated. He passed away in September ’73. Forty (!) years after his death, it was revealed that the suspicions of murder were completely justified…
