“Time in Greece” tribute to Charalampos Vasileiadis | 09 Oct. 2024

This unique tribute celebrates Charalampos Vasileiadis, one of the most significant yet underappreciated lyricists of Greek popular music. His journey began in the Dardanelles and led him to Nea Filadelfeia, where he lived a life of dignity and passion for songwriting, often crafting masterpieces in just five minutes, while also producing commissioned works.

Vasileiadis frequented the music venues on Ionos Street in Omonia daily, seeking out prominent artists of his time to share his songs with them. He is credited with writing over 2,000 songs, standing alongside renowned lyricists like Eftychia Papagiannopoulou, Kostas Virvos, and Christos Kolokotronis as prolific figures in Greek folk music. Despite his talent, he faced exploitation, often receiving meager compensation for his work, and tragically passed away in poverty. Yet, his legacy endures through the songs he generously shared with countless generations.
