On 25 March, the program “Remarkable Personalities”, hosted by Stavroula Karali, was dedicated to the women of the Greek War of Independence.
Historian and professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Vasiliki Lazou—author of the book Women and the Revolution of 1821: From the Ottoman World to the Free Greek State—speaks about the women who stood at the forefront of history, as well as those who remained in the shadows.
From the women of Souli and Chios to Manto Mavrogenous and Laskarina Bouboulina, the program highlights the contribution, sacrifices, and personal cost borne by the women of the struggle.
