Captain Giorgos Parisis — Master Mariner, Head of Training at the Hellenic Yacht Crew Association (HYCA), and Technical Consultant in Yachting and Shipping Education — spoke on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” and Voice of Greece.
Captain Giorgis, who participated in two panels at the international conference “The Luxury Side of Greece,” discussed the evolution of maritime tourism in Greece on many levels, emphasizing that yachting is now a highly dynamic sector of Greek shipping, showing a steady upward trend.
He spoke about training, responsibility, and crew skills, highlighting the captain’s leadership role, who, as he stressed, “must inspire and listen to his crew in order to bring out the best they have to offer. Moreover, employees — and by extension, seafarers — must know and understand why they work in this unique world of yachting, maritime life, and shipping.”
