On Tuesday, 11 November 2025, the program “Human Landscapes” with Victoria Kavouriari welcomed to the Voice of Greece studio Elena Dede, lawyer and founder of the non-profit organization Dogs’ Voice, which this year marks ten years of action in the protection and welfare of animals.
The conversation explored animal rights and awareness in contemporary Greece – a society where cruelty, neglect, and indifference coexist with compassion, volunteerism, adoption, and love.
Key questions included:
- What progress has been made in safeguarding animal rights, both in emergencies such as natural disasters and in everyday life?
- Does Greek legislation consistently protect animal welfare?
- What does it mean to buy rather than adopt a stray animal?
- What circumstances can lead a domesticated animal to attack its owner?
- Can civil society fill the gaps left by the state?
- How much does local government contribute to the well-being of animals?
