“Faraway Words” with Katerina Serifi from Brussels | 15 Apr. 2026

Katerina Serifi was introduced to the audience of Voice of Greece. The occasion for her conversation with Natasa Vissarionos was her short story collection “Survival Kit”, published by Kastaniotis Editions.

These are stories featuring protagonists living on the edge—of loss, love, silence, and violence. Characters who move through rural and marginal landscapes, in quiet homes, city apartments, or villages that conceal secrets within their place names. Stories to remember, to carry on, to hold on—even for a little while. A spiral map of trauma and survival, where nothing is easily given and nothing is easily erased.

Katerina Serifi was born and raised in Morfati, Thesprotia. She studied Chemical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics. She has been living and working in Brussels for the past 20 years. During the program, she also spoke about life in both the capital and the Belgian countryside, sharing her personal perspective on the diverse activities of the Greek community there.
