Holistic physician Nikos Papandreou discusses the beneficial effects of natural elements and their therapeutic applications for humans. According to Dr. Papandreou, the healing properties of these natural elements have been known since ancient times when they served as the “household pharmacy” for various ailments. From colds and cardiovascular diseases to headaches and skin issues, miraculous substances from each category were used for treatment.
Dr. Papandreou highlights that the pharmaceutical industry still uses many of these substances as the basis for medications. For instance, the active ingredient in aspirin, acetylsalicylic acid, was originally derived from willow bark. Hippocrates himself described and recommended willow bark as a remedy for fever and pain.
The episode also features Georgia Papadatou on classical guitar.
