The program welcomed Giorgos Lignos, a musicologist and music producer from Brisbane, Australia, who spoke about an upcoming tribute event honoring Mikis Theodorakis. The event will feature a lecture by Lignos on the universal significance of Theodorakis’ work, performances by the Brisbane-based Greek choir “Hellenic Voices”, and a band playing some of the composer’s most beloved pieces.
As Mr. Lignos noted, “Hellenic Voices” now includes 60 members, from children to seniors, all dedicated to performing exclusively Greek songs. It is a remarkable initiative that nurtures a deep love for Greece while promoting the Greek language and culture across generations.
