“The harvest came among the vines and brought along joy and laughter. Young men and women, with a thousand laughs, cut the sweet grapes…” — Giorgos Sourelis
“As time moves on and winter deepens, the robin’s throat turns a darker shade— like the color of cyclamens.” — Giorgos Seferis
The programme “Narratives – Stories and Fairytales for Children of All Ages” presents, in two special anniversary episodes, a poetic tribute titled Anthology of Greek Poets: The Four Seasons, for audiences of all ages. Through the voices of some of Greece’s most important poets—such as Kostis Palamas, Myrtiotissa, Constantine Cavafy, Giorgos Seferis, Odysseas Elytis, Kostas Varnalis, Yannis Ritsos, Kostas Karyotakis, as well as Zacharias Papantoniou, Giorgos Drosinis, Tellos Agras, Vasilis Rotas, Giorgos Sourelis, Kiki Dimoula and others—the show celebrates the spirit of the seasons. Their verses, alongside well-known folk and popular rhymes for children, pay homage to Autumn and Winter. On Saturday, April 19, 2025, through the airwaves of Voice of Greece, the program featured a curated recital of poems dedicated to these two evocative seasons.
The poems featured in the tribute are beautifully accompanied by melodies from Mikis Theodorakis’s music collection “40 Songs for Little Ones and Children”, some of which the composer wrote at a very young age.
