Captain Michalis Karpathakis talks about his life and shares stories and emotions from 36 years and 7 months of service at sea.
He first set sail on April 20, 1964, aboard the small freighter “Angelis Sigma” from Heraklion to Thessaloniki. On July 5, 2005, with tears in his eyes, he descended the gangway of the last ship he commanded.
The guest also speaks about his three books of maritime stories and tales, written with his own sensitive touch for ships and the sea: “Stories of Salt” (2016), “The Deck Cadet” (2018), and “The Seafarers of the Aegean” (2024).
He speaks as an old sailor, a good friend, a genuine person, and a worthy captain. He recounts remarkable stories and reads excerpts from his books that are sure to move you.
