John Faraclas, shipping analyst, former professor of maritime studies, member of the Chios Marine Club, author and cofounder of All About Shipping, joins “Fair Winds and Following Seas” on Voice of Greece.
Faraclas discusses the significance of the Athenian victory at the Battle of Salamis, fought on 28 or 29 September 480 BC. The Megarians and Aeginetans fought alongside the Athenians.
He also examines the state of global shipping amid conflicts affecting the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz, and the war between Russia and Ukraine. He describes the wider crisis as a “third world war.”
