He was Napoleon’s nephew. He fought for Greek independence, died in the aftermath of a battle in Nafplio, and remained in Greece forever. His body was preserved for five years in a barrel of rum before being embalmed and placed in a mausoleum on a small islet off the coast of Messenia in the Ionian Sea.
