“Alexandria Polychoros” A house tells its story… | “Our Town” 07/31/2022

On Sunday, July 31, the first part of the show “Our Town” of the “Voice of Greece” features the actor Vasilis Vlachos, who talks about the house at 14 Spartis Street in which the writer M. Karagatsis lived from 1937 to 1954.

This house has many fascinating stories to tell, since important works of the author were written there, such as The Great Chimera, The Yellow Envelope, etc. At the same time, it served as a writers’ haunt in Athens, as it was often the place where notable personalities of the Arts and Letters such as Terzakis, Theotokas, Venezis, Katsimpalis and others met.

Today, it is where the Theatrical Stage “Alexandria Polychoros” operates, celebrating ten years in existence this year and contributing to the cultural upgrade of the area with its legacy.

The show also makes reference to the broader area of Amerikis Square, to the old cinemas, its unique houses, and to great personalities who have lived here from time to time (Kampanellis, Gatsos, Plessas, etc.)
