M. Cardaras: A cry of despair from our adopted expatriates | 17.10.2023

Mary Cardaras, Associate Professor of Communication at the Public University of East Bay, California, spoke about her own adoption story in the 1950s and her book titled “Ripped at the Root: An Adoption Story” which deals with the adoption of another Greek woman, Dina Poulios from a family in the USA, on the show Our Global Voice, with Petros Diplas and Dimitris Kontogiannis.

Cardaras, who is based in Greece, having taken over as Head of the Demos Center of the American College of Greece, is also a writer and fights for access to adoption files by adopted Greek children of the decades after WW2 and for them to be granted Greek citizenship having been born here to Greek parents. She is searching for her own elderly biological father, Konstantinos Koletsis, who probably lives somewhere in Athens.
