The Poet of the Week 12-18 February 2024 is Chloe Koutsoumpeli.
Chloe Koutsoumpeli was born in Thessaloniki in 1962, graduated from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and worked in the banking sector. She published her first collection of poems at the age of twenty-two and nine more poetry collections were published during her forty-year career as a writer, while the eleventh of Polis editions, three novels and two plays, is about to be published. Her collection THE TABLEMATES OF THE OTHER EARTH, Gavriilidis Publications 2016 was honored with the State Prize for Poetry in 2017. Also, two more of her electronic collections entitled CURFEW and THE SECRET LIFE OF POEMS are online with photographs by Panagiotis Papatheodoropoulos. Her theatrical play entitled ORPHEUS AT THE BAR was performed in 2014 at the Agora Theater in Patras. In 2020, the publishing house FOTODENDRO in Seville published a collection of poems around ancient Greece entitled ANTIGONE ALWAYS FORGETS SOMETHING WHEN SHE LEAVES, translated into Spanish by JOSE ANTONIO MORENO HURADO. In 2020, a study of her work was published by Rome Publications entitled THE POETICS OF ANCIENT MYTH IN THE WORK OF CHLOE KOUTSOUMBELI by philologist and poet Angeliki Mavroudi and recently a volume with scientific studies on her work was published by the Philological Association of Thessaloniki in Graphima publications.
