The week from 19 January 2026 to 25 January 2026 is dedicated to the poet Maria Kant (Kantonidou).
Maria Kant (Kantonidou) was born in Cyprus and lives in Athens. She studied English and Greek Philology at the University of Athens, where she also completed postgraduate studies in Educational Science. Her texts and photographs have been published in print and online magazines, anthologies, and collective volumes. Her poems have been translated into English, Italian, Spanish, German, and Romanian. Her first poetry collection, “stanza” (Gutenberg, 2021; reprint 2023), was shortlisted for the Public Book Awards (Readers’ Choice), the Anagnostis Literary Awards, and the International Jean Moréas Awards. She was honoured with the Giannis Varveris Award of the Society of Greek Writers for a first-time poet, as well as the State Poetry Award of the Republic of Cyprus. In May 2025, a selection of her poems was published in Spanish under the title “Apasionadamente / Περιπαθώς” (Padilla Libros Editorial y Librería), translated by José Antonio Moreno Jurado. In October 2025, her second poetry collection, “punctum,” was released by Gutenberg.
