Alexandros Lyra will be Alexis Kostas’ guest on the next episode of ”Voices and Music”.
Born in Berlin in 1992, to a German mother and a Greek father, Alexandros Lyra spent his school years divided between Germany and his homeland, Naxos, his father’s place of origin.
He was musically influenced by both cultures as a child, as he grew up with Greek and foreign rock music, but also traditional Greek music. But the thing that monopolized his interest, from his early childhood years, was the Cretan lyre. With an innate enthusiasm for the instrument, from the age of seven, he spent his time imitating great lyre players. With two sticks for lyre and bow, he dreamed and set his sights on becoming one of them when he grew up.
Alexandros released his fifth solo album “Summer in Greece” with the record label “Aerakis-Seistron”.
A few months after the album “Katharsis”, he comes with 12 great hits of the Greek music scene that wrote history.
Those include “Zorbas Dance”, “Syrtaki”, “The Children of Piraeus”, “Hasaposerviko” and many more.
They take off from the magical and special sound of the Cretan lyre, an instrument that in the hands of this pioneering artist, has “broken” all music rules.
Alexandros Lyra, with his genius and his winged fingers, is ready to take us on new musical adventures!
