A conversation with Zacques Bouchard | Saturday 23.09.2023, 12.00

On Saturday, September 23, 12:00-13:00 Greek time, the show “Our Town” features Zacques Bouchard.
The important Hellenist and philhellene talks about the Greek culture that inspired him throughout his fascinating life, the Greek language, which has been the root of numerous languages of the world.

As a university professor in Montreal for 50 years, he taught the Greek language, its poets, culture and philosophers to several generations.

This unique intellectual personality talks about his many translations, his texts that have been “beacons” of study for researchers.

Reference is made to the early Enlightenment, to the Greek surrealist poets (Embirikos, Sachtouris, etc.) that he has translated in his unique way. Award-winning Jacques Bouchard talks about the great philosophers and his teachers, Dimaras and Savvidis. Special mention is made to the Greek community in Montreal.

The show m also features discussions on Bouchard by the following: Leonidas Embirikos, Katrin Velissari, and Professor Mary Roussou of the University of Cyprus, and songs by writers from Quebec.
