New Year’s Day with “Voice of Greece” and the Greeks of the World!

Voice of Greece“, ERT’s global radio, celebrates the new year wishing for a different, Happy, and Peaceful 2024, together with expatriate Greeks, our sailors traveling the seas of the world, with carols from Greek children and rare concerts by favorite artists.


On the first day of 2024, expect the following on Voice of Greece:



The Elves of Tradition” with Maria Koutsibiri (06:00 Athens time):
Traditional tunes, carols, and songs from all over Greece, adapted to the spirit of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

Fair Winds and Following Seas” with Antonis Karagiannakis (08:00 Athens time):
The show is dedicated to Greek sailors traveling across the five oceans, with a spontaneous, traditional, island celebration, violins and lutes, well-known island songs and wishes. Musicians and revelers from Naxos, led by Eleni Legaki, in a two-hour festive program. She is joined by Vangelis Koukoularis (lute) and Giannis Manolas (vocals).

Take Your time” with Prokopis Aggelopoulos (10:00 Athens time):
The show will take us to various parts of Greece and the World, reaching ERT correspondents and other Greeks of the Diaspora to exchange wishes and learn how the new year has begun in the places they live.
There will also be carols by Greek pupils in Germany (Waiblingen, Heidelberg, Feuerbach, Winnenden, Nagold and Bad Cannstatt), recorded especially for Voice of Greece!

Journeys Basking in Greek Light” with Giannis Papoutsakis (12:00 Athens time):
A special, festive show, in tune with the New Year, featuring short stories by Alexandros Papadiamantis, Fotis Kontoglou and other authors, poems about this first day of the year, carols and songs from Greece and the World.

Hellenes Everywhere” with Thanasis Houpis (14:00 Athens time):
Important personalities from the Greek and Cypriot communities bring us the festive atmosphere from the countries where they reside, at the dawn of the new year.

Greek Music Express” with Hercules Economou (15:00-16:00 Athens time):
An exciting journey with two unique recording attempts: Tasos Karakatsanis’ songs about Lysistrata and Ecclesiazusae, in the Symi dialect, and Dionysis Savvopoulos’s songs intended for the Acharnians.

Voices and Music” with Alexis Kostas (18:00-19:00 Athens time):
Wishes from artists who live and excel abroad but also wishes from famous Greek performers.

Pantelis Thalassinos Concert (22:00-24:00 Athens time):
