We Lived a Full Life
by Giannis Psarogiannis

Those of us who lifted our anchors and launched into the vast oceans,
with the big ocean-going ships, did not cruise, but passed through shoals.

We faced huge storms, we were bent but never afraid.
We sailed and anchored in sheltered harbors,
where we got to know other places, other people, other lifestyles.

Huge knowledge, immense joys,
but above all huge pride at the moment we decided to untie the ropes and to raise the anchor.

We lived a full life that was given to us…
Nor have we thrown it away in the trash of security and timidity.
