Anastasios Kavathas (Tasso Kavata), President of the Federation of Greek Communities in Argentina, was hosted in the studio of “Voice of Greece.” He spoke about the history of Hellenism in Argentina, the goals of the Federation, the challenges, and the dreams of our compatriots living abroad, as well as the connections he made during his visit to Greece. Mr. Kavata was born in Patagonia, Argentina, and grew up with Greek customs, traditions, and the Greek language at home. His father served as president of the Greek community of Saint Nicholas in Comodoro Rivadavia for a decade, a position now held by Mr. Kavathas’ brother. He mentioned that the Federation was established in 1993 and includes 11 Greek organizations as members, but he is also fighting for the issues of those associations that have not yet joined the Federation. Today, approximately 45,000 Greeks are estimated to be living in Argentina.
