The Kasos fisherman and beekeeper Michalis Papakanakis speaks on “Fair Winds and Following Seas” about his life at sea and how a young fisherman today experiences the profession.
At the age of eight, he first boarded the boat to help his father, and the sea, as he emphasizes, is his life and his great love.
The largest fish he has caught so far with his brother was a type of shark measuring 5.5 meters and weighing 300 kilograms. He also mentions that new types of fish have appeared in our seas, while others have migrated to colder waters due to climate change.
