On Saturday, March 1st, 2025, “Our Town” hosted Tzeni Oikonomidi.
The recently awarded author, honored with the “Menis Koumandareas” Award by the Hellenic Authors Society, discussed her debut book, “Drought and Other Stories”, from which she read excerpts. She reflected on women’s writing, her deep love for words that evoke strong emotions and inspiration, and her unique relationship with time, rhythm, light, and the night.
Tzeni Oikonomidi also spoke about her hometown, Thessaloniki, both in the past and within today’s literary circles, as well as her favorite authors, Markos Meschos and Giorgos Ioannou.
She touched on her special connection with humor, friendship, companionship, and music, as well as her love for radio, her favorite medium.
Poet Dimitris Chalazonitis also joined the show to discuss her work.
