Dimitris Kalampalikas, a naval architect from Volos, graduated from the Athens University of Applied Sciences while already working at a shipyard specializing in wooden vessels. Since 2004, he has been actively involved in shipbuilding and ship repair, collaborating with most major shipping companies and visiting numerous shipyards around the world.
Among other things, Kalampalikas shares:
“I’ve heard the Voice of Greece in the most unexpected corners of the world. The sea is a treasure—provided you love it, understand it deeply, and serve it with care and restraint. Through my work, I’ve come to know many countries, cultures, and people, which is part of what makes this job so fascinating. I mainly focus on repairs of cargo ships and tankers, particularly on steelwork—plates that often need maintenance or replacement. Every vessel shows signs of wear over time, and it takes an experienced naval architect’s eye to truly understand where and why.”
