The program welcomed Katerina Poutachidou, Artistic Director of Creative Drama & Arts in Melbourne. She shared the story of the center’s evolution since its founding in 2014—starting with a group of third-generation Greek-Australian children, later expanding to include children of recent immigrants, and by 2015, establishing an adult ensemble as well. The conversation centered on the upcoming production “Girls in Crisis,” set to premiere on May 10 at a major Melbourne theatre, directed by Jeremy Arti.
The play is an original collage of scenes from landmark works—from ancient comedy and theatre of the absurd to modern Greek drama—offering a layered exploration of female identity through the roles and relationships that shape women’s lives.
