On this episode of “Faraway Words”, author and journalist Giorgos Archimandritis joined the program to speak about a special tribute event dedicated to Manos Hatzidakis, marking 100 years since the composer’s birth. The event was scheduled to take place that same evening at the University of the Sorbonne.
As Archimandritis explained, “The event will unfold in two parts. First, I will give a lecture on the life and work of Manos Hatzidakis, accompanied by excerpts from the radio documentary ‘A Life, A Work: Manos Hatzidakis’, which I produced for French public radio. We’ll also hear iconic voices reflecting on his legacy, including Maurice Béjart and Menis Koumandareas.
In the second part, Katerina Fotinaki will perform songs by Hatzidakis in her own distinctive style, interwoven with readings of his poetry and prose. It will be an almost erotic immersion into the world—the ‘sea’—that is Manos Hatzidakis.”
