The charismatic and much-loved composer and violin soloist Nikos Oikonomidis speaks about the panigyri (traditional village festival) as he has experienced it for years, especially on the small and picturesque islands.
The guest reflects on his acclaimed and extensive discography, as well as on his friend and collaborator Nikos Papazoglou, who performed the last song of his life, “O Angelistis” (The Messenger).
He also talks about leading soloists, past and present, and the value of traditional music in education.
The program features well-known songs cherished by audiences and performed uniquely by this outstanding artist – many sung by his steady collaborator Kyriaki Spanou, such as “To Glenti” (The Celebration), which has met with the greatest acclaim.
