On Thursday, 13 August 2026, we reviewed current affairs through the headlines before exploring today’s energy landscape, from wars and the use of renewable sources to the much-discussed energy exchange and its impact on consumer prices. The English edition of Yannis Bassias’s book, “Economic Transition and Impact on the Energy Mix,” prompted our conversation with the energy analyst and former president of the Hellenic Hydrocarbon Resources Management Company.
The second hour began with world news presented by Ivana Djordjevic.
We then connected with Ithaca to speak with Konstantinos Karavias, chair of the Municipality of Ithaca’s Tourism Committee, about how the enormous success of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” has influenced international visitors’ interest in the island. We continued our discussion of the film and its success with Alexandros Romanos Lizardos, ERT journalist, film critic, director, and theater scholar.
Staying with cinema, we met Neritan Zinxhiria, a filmmaker who lives and works in Greece and triumphed at last year’s Drama International Short Film Festival with “Noi.” He is currently in Berlin preparing his first feature film, “The Appalling Human Voice of the Animals,” through this year’s “Berlin AiR: Thessaloniki–Berlin” residency program, run by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg in partnership with the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. The program offers film professionals from Greece who are developing new projects the opportunity to live and work in Berlin for three months.
