Director, producer, actress and animator Julia Speropoulos joined Prokopis Agelopoulos in the studio for “Take Your Time.”
Speaking on the program, she revealed for the first time that she is currently working on a feature-length documentary incorporating hand-drawn 2D animation, dedicated to legendary dancer and choreographer Fotis Metaxopoulos. Scheduled for completion in 2027, the film traces his life from his birth in prewar Greece, through the losses and hardships he endured, to his discovery of dance. That passion led to an illustrious five-decade career that left an indelible mark on Greek cinema and theater.
The conversation also touched on Speropoulos’s animated short “Agapi,” which explores the genocide of the Pontic Greeks and has earned major international honors and awards. Her filmmaking has been recognized both in Greece and abroad for its sensitivity and craftsmanship.
