Take Your Time with Prokopis Agelopoulos | 29 Oct. 2026

On Thursday, 29 October 2026, after reviewing the latest news and headlines, we explored what lies ahead for small and medium-sized businesses following the tax evasion scandals involving two major chains. Our guest was Giannis Hatzitheodosiou, President of the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen.

Then, to mark the anniversary of 28 October, we discussed the commemorations with historian and author Menelaos Charalampidis, who coordinates the annual events marking Athens’s liberation from German occupation. What exactly are we celebrating, and why does Greece commemorate its entry into the war rather than its liberation?

We opened the second hour with a report from Belgrade by Ivana Djordjevic, who brought us up to date on developments in Serbia and what lies ahead following the elections in which the “Student List” emerged as the leading party.

Next, lawyer Katerina Fragkaki explained the new law banning social media use for children under 15, how it will be enforced in practice, and the potential criminal liability of parents and platforms.

We then crossed to Melbourne to speak with Jorge Menidis, Artistic Director of the Greek Community of Melbourne, about the Victorian state election on 28 November, in which candidates of Greek heritage will also be standing. Our conversation took place just minutes after a candidates’ forum organized by the newspaper “Neos Kosmos” and the Greek Community of Melbourne.

Shortly before the end of the program, Michalis Economou, conductor and Director of the ERT National Symphony Orchestra, joined us to discuss a special concert the orchestra will present at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall on Monday, 2 November 2026, at 20:30 Athens time, featuring works by Paganini and Beethoven.

The program concluded with Vicky Spyrou in the studio for the day’s sports news.
