Carmen Venti visit “Our Town” | 15 June 2024, 12:00

The band from Thessaloniki have carved out their own distinct path, inspired by the music of the interwar period and its various southern European subgenres, take us on a musical journey to the ports of the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, with the sounds of tango, foxtrots, Romanian doinas, urban political songs and love songs from Alexandria.
Dimitris Charitatos, the group’s bass player, will join us in the studio to talk about the poetry and literature that emerges through their musical journeys, about the groups’ infuences and inspiration and about their many trips and multicultural experiences. He will also tell us about the band’s performances at SKG music festival and the Olympion cinema venue in Thessaloniki. Anna Mykoniou, President at the Cultural Center of Macedonia, will also speak on the show.
– The other members of Carmen Venti are Dimitris Psathas – singer and violinist, Lena Karagiannidou – accordion, Pantelis Batis – classical guitar and Dimitris Valiotis – percussion.
