Diana Kalaitzidi, teacher of Greek and Russian languages, on ”The Voice that Unites Us” | 22.12.2023, 14:00

On Friday, December 22nd, philologist and translator Diana Kalaitzidi is a guest on the show “The Voice that unites us”.

Originally from Tsalka, Georgia, Nadia Kalaitzidi will talk with Gianna Triantafylli about her life in the city of Rustavi in Georgia and Kabardinka in South Russia and will share memories from the everyday life of expatriates.

Special reference will be made to the teaching of the Greek language, with which she has been involved for several years. Learning Greek is a top priority for Greeks abroad. She will also talk about the preservation of the Pontic dialect as well as about the difficulties of translating poetry.

Diana Kalaitzidi studied Greek Literature (NKUA) and completed her postgraduate studies in Creative Writing at the Hellenic Open University. She has collaborated with the Consulate of the Russian Federation as an interpreter – translator and has translated Russian literature into Greek with emphasis on the work of great Russian women poets. She has been awarded by the Greek Scriptwriters Association in the 6th Panhellenic Contest for Films Scriptwriting for the short film “Simelitsa”. Today she works as a philologist teacher in a secondary school and attends the postgraduate program: Studies in the Slavic World: History, Literature, Culture and Diachronic Relations to Hellenism at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
