On Monday, July 15, at 19:00-20:00 Athens time, the show “Our Town” will host Elina Afentaki.
The charismatic poet will talk about her poetry collections “Icebreaker” (Παγοθραυστικό) and “Made of salt” (Από αλάτι), from which she will read her poems. References will be made to her novella “Hush…Aunt Lena is sleeping” (Σιγά…η θεία Λένα κοιμάται) and her lyrics, which were set to music by Giorgos Andreou and performed by Tania Tsanaklidou for the music anthology ”Τραγούδια του παράξενου κόσμου”.
In the show, the poet will discuss with Themis Rodamitis the concepts of loss, failure, mourning, family, dystopia, love, but also about the value of the perishable and the ephemeral.
In the discussion, reflections will be heard on overconsumption in the modern world, the systematic tendency to avoid taking responsibility, on who we are and where we are going.
References will be made to her place of origin, Tinos, which is affected by hypertourism.
Finally, the well-traveled Elina Afentaki will talk about her favorite cities, New York and Venice. Her favorite music will be heard on the show.
