Gerasimos Voutsinas is the “Poet of the Week” on Voice of Greece | 09-15 Sept. 2024

A Greek poem each day travels across the frequencies of the Voice of Greece, reaching the far corners of the world wherever Greek voices can be heard. The week from September 9th- September 15th, 2024, is dedicated to the poet Gerasimos Voutsinas.

Gerasimos Voutsinas was born in Piraeus and grew up in Kallithea. He studied Music and Biology and is the Director of Research at the Institute of Biosciences and Applications of the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos.” He also teaches Molecular Biology at the American College of Greece, Deree.

He has published the poetry collections The Construction of Truth (Gavriilidis, 2011) and Chronicle of a Lightning (Perispomeni, 2021). His poems have been featured in Poetica, Anagnoseis of Avgi, and the online magazines Diastixo, Bookpress, Fractal, and PoeticaNet. He has also translated poetry by James Tate, Frank O’Hara, Charles Simic, and Fanny Howe.
