Kostis Kornetis on “Historical Walks” | 27 July 2024, 13:00

We all know that the military junta in Greece fell in 1974, but few are aware that during the same period, we also witnessed a transition from dictatorship to democracy in two other countries in Southern Europe, Spain and Portugal.
On Saturday, July 27, from 13:00-14:00 Athens time, historian and associate professor at the University of Madrid, Kostis Kornetis, will talk to us about the shared experience of these three countries. What were the similarities and differences? Was there dialogue between the authoritarian regimes? What were the reasons for the collapse and what role did grassroots movements play in this transition?

Produced and presented by Marilena Katsimi
Broadcast: Saturday 27 July 2024, 16:00 Athens time
