On Monday, November 18, at 19:00 PM (Athens time), “Our Town“ welcomes the acclaimed jazz composer and saxophonist Dimitris Tsakas.
Tsakas will share stories about his collaborations with exceptional Greek and international musicians, his experiences performing at major festivals abroad, and the historic jazz venues in Athens that helped shape the local scene.
He’ll also discuss working with Vangelis, recording sessions in New York, and leading projects with large orchestras. A highlight of the conversation will be his celebrated work Charlie Parker with Strings and his deep admiration for jazz icons like Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, and John Coltrane.
The show will explore his role at the Goulandris Museum, where he curates thematic evenings blending music with other art forms. Tsakas will also open up about his favorite cities, personal interests, and daily inspirations.
Listeners will hear music from his latest album, Conversation Helps, which will be featured throughout the episode.
