On Sunday, July 14th, at 12:00 Athens time and for two hours, the show “Our Town” pays tribute to Nikos Gounaris.
The important singer, considered by many to be “the most beautiful troubadour the place has ever known”, carried centuries of memories and transformed them into art. Characteristically, Tsitsanis said about him: “As long as Gounaris exists, no other folk artist can be compared to him.”
David Nachmias, who has dedicated himself to the research and promotion of the ‘soft’ folk Greek music of the 20th century, joins us in the studio, along with the charismatic Thanos Polydoras. Together they perform songs by Nikos Gounaris, including «Γλυκά μου μάτια», «Ένα βράδυ πού ‘βρεχε», «Να το πάρεις το κορίτσι», «Για τις γυναίκες ζούμε» and more.
Very interesting stories are heard during the show, shedding light on the character and performance style of Gounaris. We also refer to his relationship with fellow artists, his travels, his appearances, and his engagement with the Greek diaspora community.
