“Our Town” tribute to Nikos Saragoudas | 01 July 2024, 19:00

The unparalleled and eminent Greek oud soloist and singer Nikos Saragoudas passed away a few days ago, leaving behind a powerful legacy of virtuosity and expressiveness that will always move his peers and the wider audience, earning their admiration.

Nikos Saragoudas worked alongside top Greek musicians, starting out from village festivals. He managed to uniquely combine and merge his two distinct heritages, of Asia Minor and the Arvanitic one, a feat considered extraordinary for a musician.

This remarkable man and musician was generous with young artists, imparting his knowledge, was a steadfast friend, and an entertainer on stage, earning the respect of his colleagues. He always performed alongside his wife, the renowned singer Giasemi Saragouda.

In this episode, we will hear musicians Haig Yazdjian and Christos Tsiamoulis, and author and producer Stelios Elliniadis talking about him, as well as some of his characteristic music.
