On Monday, December 23, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Athens time (with a repeat broadcast on Tuesday, December 24, from 4:00 AM to 5:00 AM), the program “Our Town” will welcome Rodi Kangelari.
The psychologist-criminologist and author of “The Addict and the Law” will be in the studio to discuss a range of critical issues plaguing modern society, creating a chain reaction of challenges. Kangelari will delve into where psychology and criminology intersect with philosophy and introduce us to the concept of the “psychodynamic therapeutic approach.”
She will explore themes such as the body as a voice in delinquency, the prison as a surrogate family, and the addict’s recurring relational dynamics with their family—dynamics of control, dominance, dependency, and fusion.
Kangelari will explain addiction as the language of trauma, a familial and societal outcry. She will also share her experiences as a researcher at the Laboratory of Penal and Criminological Research of the Law School, as well as her insights from living and working in Edinburgh.
In a profound conversation with host Themis Rodamitis, they will tackle pressing societal issues surrounding violence and its dead ends.
