On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, 19:00-20:00 (Athens time), the show “Our Town” will host Theodor Daskarolis.
A man with social sensibilities, humor and imagination, Mr. Daskarolis has significantly contributed to his country of origin, by bringing people and cultures together. The former ambassador to major European cities and author, will join Themis Rodamitis in the studio to talk about his many and rich experiences from Berlin, where he was during the fall of the Wall, London, which was a milestone to him, and New Zealand, which was for him the most important experience of his journey.
He will also refer to the devastating period of the battle of Crete, on the occasion of the recent publishing of his book “Kourouvaaka or the Battle of Crete in the Antipodes and Other Stories” (2023, TO RODAKIO publications). Kuruvaaka was a hero of this battle between myth and reality, a rebellious warrior who enchanted the author. Impressed by the Maori tribe, Mr. Daskarolis will talk about these heroic people who came to Crete to fight alongside the Greeks against Nazi Germany.
The show will feature music from the cities and life-stations he visited throughout his influential journey.
