VoG’s Poet of the Week: Giorgos Andreou | 06-12.11.2023

Each weekly episode is a tribute to a contemporary poet from Greece or the Greek Diaspora.
The poets recite their poems themselves, along with an original live music background.

The Poet of the Week 06-12.11.2023 is Giorgos Andreou.

Giorgos Andreou was born in Serres. He studied music in Greece and Europe where he simultaneously attended seminars on psychoacoustics, sound engineering, and production media. He also delved into the relationship – connection of Greek music both with Western and Eastern musical idioms. The fruit of these quests was a complex songwriting and multidimensional compositional activity (works of orchestral music, music for Theater and Cinema, etc.). With the multiple capacities of composer, lyricist, production manager, arranger, sound engineer, and recording editor, Giorgos Andreou has collaborated with all important composers, poets of lyrics, musicians, and performers of contemporary Greek Music and Greek Song.

He frequently writes in the Press and the Internet and has significant pedagogical activity in the fields of song writing and lyric writing. He has published three books: “FOREIGN DEMON” (Novel – Theo Gavrielides’ publications), “THE RECKLESS NAVIGATOR” (Poetry Collection – Mikri Arktos Publications), “GRAVEL” (Poetry Collection – Mikri Arktos Publications).
