Katerina Thanopoulou is “The Poet of the Week” on Voice of Greece | 02 – 08.09.2024
“The Voice of Greece” has adjusted its schedule and is dedicating the first week of September to the poet Katerina Thanopoulou, who passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024. From Monday, September 2nd, until Sunday, September 8th, the poems she read herself in the studio of Hellenic Radio in November 2022 will be rebroadcast.
Katerina Thanopoulou was born in Athens. She worked as a special education mathematics teacher with postgraduate studies in Special Education, Intercultural, and Distance Education. She contributed to the collective publication Theater and Its Techniques as a Lever for Educational Development. She had published poems in cultural magazines and newspapers and was involved in book editing and illustration. Additionally, from her student years, she was active in the fields of culture, education, lifelong learning, and local government, having served as the Deputy Governor of Attica for Social Policy from 2014 to 2016. Her poetry collections Labyrinth Memory (2015), Apnea Memory (2018), and Living Memory (2021) were published by Aparsis Editions. She also edited collective volumes such as Stories of Confinement (2020) and Poetry Diary (2021), both published by Aparsis Editions, and she had participated in several collective poetry volumes.
