Voice of Greece celebrates the Greek Independence Day with Greeks around the world!

On Monday, March 25th, Voice of Greece connects with the Greek Diaspora, from USA and Australia to Africa and Europe, to commemorate the anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821.

From 8am, Antonis Karagiannakis will broadcast a special, anniversary edition of the show “Fair Winds and Following Seas”, with the historian of the Demokriteion University of Thrace, Manolis Melas, as guest, and then, shortly after 9am, Prokopis Angelopoulos will connect with communities of Greeks in Europe, Africa, Oceania.

Immediately after, from the precious archive of Voice of Greece and the show “Two Faces…”, professor of History at the Ionian University, Nikos Karapidakis and social anthropologist Akis Tzonis, will illuminate two other sides of the revolution of 1821.

At 11am, Marilena Katsimi returns with “Historical Walks” on Voice of Greece radio, on the anniversary of the Greek Revolution, with a two-hour tribute to the most important national holiday of Greece. The guests are two of the leading Historians, the Rector of Panteion University Christina Koulouri, author of the book “Fustanelles and Chlamydes” and the professor and director of the public history master’s program at the Open University, Charis Athanasiadis, editor of the collective volume “National Anniversaries”.

At 17:00, from the archive of Voice of Greece and the show “Tis Psychis mou Choma” with Angelos Stathopoulos, we will listen to author-researcher, Michalis Stoukas, who talks about the unknown philhellenes.

The main axis of the anniversary program of the Voice of Greece will be the musical shows, perfectly adapted to the climate of the day, from early in the morning until late at night.
