Wildlife on the edge: The work of ANIMA | 16 Feb. 2025, 11:00

We love Greece for its stunning landscapes, breathtaking coasts, and rich biodiversity. But here’s the hard truth: our wildlife is struggling.

We’re seeing extreme weather like never before-heatwaves turning forests into tinderboxes, floods washing away ecosystems, and seasons that no longer follow the rules. Birds are migrating at the wrong times, sea turtles are struggling with rising temperatures, and more and more animals are showing up injured, sick, or displaced. And that’s just climate change! Add habitat destruction, pollution, and human interference, and you’ve got a perfect storm of challenges for wildlife. But thankfully, there are real-life heroes working to protect the wild animals

Tune in this Sunday 16 February 2025 at 11:00 am (Athens time) to “Infinitely Curious”, the English-language show of ERT and Voice of Greece with Katerina Batzaki, and listen to Dr. Grigorios Markakis, a veterinarian at ANIMA, Greece’s leading wildlife rehabilitation center, telling us what’s really happening to our wildlife, what ANIMA is doing to help, and how we can be part of the solution.

Produced and presented by Katerina Batzaki
Broadcast: Sunday 16 February 2025, 11:00-12:00 am. Athens time
