On Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00 (Athens time), the radio show “Our Town” will present a special tribute to poet and translator Giorgos Blanas, one of the leading figures of Greece’s literary generation of the 1980s.
The program aims to highlight the wisdom and transcendent intellectual maturity of a man deeply respected and cherished in the literary world. Through the voices of those who knew him, collaborated with him, and in some cases became close friends, we will explore his unique presence and legacy.
Actors Aimilios Chilakis, Giannis Stankoglou, Stelios Mainas, and Sofia Kakarelidou, along with theater scholar and dramaturg Elena Triantafyllopoulou, poet Giorgos Markopoulos, and writer Alexandros Asonitis, will share their thoughts on Giorgos Blanas and read selections of his poetry.
They will reflect not only on his literary contributions but also on the man behind the words—an extraordinary thinker regarded today as one of Greece’s most significant intellectuals, particularly in the realm of theater and culture.
