Dr. Othon Anastasakis on “Greece in the United Kingdom” | 28 Dec. 2025, 10:00

On Sunday, 28 December 2025, at 10:00 (Athens time), the program “Greece in the United Kingdom” with Eliana Nunes hosts Professor Othon Anastasakis.

Professor Othon Anastasakis is Director of the European Studies Centre and the South East European Studies Centre at the University of Oxford. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at St Antony’s College, at the School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA), and at the Department of Politics and International Relations of the University of Oxford. In addition, he is a Visiting Professor at the Prague University of Economics and Business.

His research interests are broad and interdisciplinary, encompassing—among other areas—the comparative politics of the Balkans, global and regional geopolitics, transition and democratization in Southern and Southeastern Europe, Greek foreign policy and Greek–Turkish relations, European populism and the far right, Russia’s role in Southeastern Europe, as well as diaspora studies. His teaching at Oxford focuses on the politics of Southeastern Europe, European Union politics, and geopolitics in international relations.

In his interview on “Greece in the United Kingdom,” he will discuss current geopolitical issues, including the war in Ukraine and its impact on Europe, Russia’s “hybrid warfare,” as well as matters of national interest such as Greece’s relationship with NATO and Greek–Turkish relations.
