Voice of Greece bids farewell to Marinella, the “Grand Dame” of Greek song

Voice of Greece is making emergency changes to its programming to broadcast special tribute programs dedicated to the “Grand Dame” of Greek song, Marinella, who passed away on Saturday, 28 March, at the age of 88.

Specifically:

Saturday 28 March:

21:00–23:00 (Athens time): Hercules Economou curates and presents a two-hour tribute to the beloved performer of Hellenism worldwide. The first hour features favorite duets with Kostas Hatzis, while the second hour is devoted to the unique melodies of Giorgos Zampetas, interpreted in her inimitable style.

23:00–00:00 (Athens time): A one-hour musical tribute follows, featuring beloved songs by the distinguished performer, as part of the program “The Creator of the Week.”

Sunday 29 March:

10:00–12:00 (Athens time): As part of the program “Irregular Notes,” a two-hour tribute from the Voice of Greece archive retraces the life and career of Marinella.

18:00–19:00 (Athens time): Alexis Kostas takes to the studio, unfolding the thread of the great singer’s life and artistic journey.

20:00–22:00 (Athens time): Stelios Ioannidis presents a special live broadcast, highlighting the most important milestones of Marinella’s remarkable career.
