“Children’s poems for Spring and Summer” | 12 Apr. 2025, 17:00

The programme “Narratives – Stories and Fairytales for Children of All Ages” presents on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 17:00 to 18:00 (Athens time), a delightful selection of children’s poems dedicated to the seasons of Spring and Summer, broadcast by Voice of Greece.

The verses of some of Greece’s greatest poets—Constantine Cavafy, Kostis Palamas, Giorgos Seferis, Odysseas Elytis, Kostas Karyotakis, I.M. Panagiotopoulos, along with Zacharias Papantoniou, Giorgos Drosinis, Vasilis Rotas, and Kiki Dimoula—celebrate the vibrant essence of these two seasons. Their poetry is accompanied by beloved traditional and folk rhymes for children.

Framing the recital is music from Mikis Theodorakis’ enchanting collection 40 Songs for Children, several of which he composed in his youth. The works are performed by the Orchestra and award-winning Children’s Choir of the Larissa Municipal Conservatory, in a special anniversary edition of the composer’s work—crafted with care for young and older listeners alike.

Produced and presented by: Maria Karagiannaki Iona

Broadcast: Saturday, April 12, 2025 | 17:00–18:00 (Athens time)
